Welcome!

Maybe we can get some good discussion going in this group.

So - a random fun question as a starting point for discussion: Which is your favorite Almodovar film?

My fav

Right now, it's "La Ley del Deseo", but I also love "Hable con Ella" and "Todo Sobre mi Madre".
All those films made me cry, and I really loved the message of "La Ley del Deseo": that it hurts to love, that one must destroy oneself completely to love. And I love Carmen Maura.
What's yours?

Re: My fav

Actually, "La ley del deseo" is one of the few Almodovar films I have yet to see. Since you say it is your favorite, I'll have to make it a point to see it soon. My favorite is "Todo sobre mi madre"--that film is just beautiful and makes me cry, too. But I also have very much enjoyed "Volver," "Hable con ella," "Atame!" and "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown."

BTW, I wrote a review of "Volver" last year for my website. You might be curious to check it out:

Re: My fav

You totally have to see "La Ley del Deseo". You'll never think about love the same way, I swear.
I have "Atame!", but there is something wrong with the subtitles, so I can't watch it. I'll see where I can get "Women of the verge of a nervous breakdown".
You know the part in "Todo sobre mi Madre" where Manuela screams "Hijo mio, hijo mio!!!!!!!"? I started crying so hard!!! And at "Hable con Ella", where Benigno dies, I had to stuff a hanky into my mouth to stop crying!

I'm sorry if I'm rambling, it's just that I have so few people to discuss this stuff with.

Re: My fav

It's great that we can discuss these films here. Yea, I know--both those parts made me cry, too.

That sucks about "Atama!" I hope you can get the subtitles fixed.

I tried to get "La ley del deseo" but apparently it's not available in the US on DVD. :( Hopefully it will be soemday soon.

Re: My fav

It's sad you can't get it legally... that film's really worth watching.

Re: My fav

I haven't seen Law of Desire either, but it's in that Almodovar set that I bought. However, it doesn't look like the movie is available on its own. :/
